Have you lost someone important to you, and you’re struggling with how to go forward in life without that person? This group can help you find peace and healing.
Each group session allows you to learn about aspects of the grief process, a place to share your experience and receive support from a counselor and other group members, and a place to offer your own healing thoughts and care to others experiencing the same pain.
You will receive handouts for all six sessions before the group begins. These handouts provide you with details about the following six topics that will be covered:
Week 1: The tasks of mourning
(Acceptance, Experience the pain, Adjust to new life, Redefine relationship)
Week 2: Roadblocks to recovery from grief
Week 3: The things we do that help us move through the grief process
Week 4: The emotional pain of grief
Week 5: Adjusting to life without the person you have lost
Week 6: Moving forward – Redefining your relationship with the person you’ve lost
This group is for: Adults who have experienced a significant loss through death of a loved one, and are struggling to adjust to the loss of this important person
Duration: 6 group sessions, once every two weeks, 1 1/2 hours each session.
This is a closed group – once a group is formed it remains the same for the entire 6 sessions
Cost: $45 per group session, group members are expected to commit to attending at least 5 of the 6 sessions
